From A Heart Overflowing

While my list of daily reads continues to grow, I've started to realize the majority of my favorite blogs tend to be local or from the South. They might not have thousands of followers or wear sponsored clothing, but they're wonderful writers, have a unique personal style, and best of all, easy to relate to! While I enjoy the big name blogs like Gal Meets Glam or Kendi Everyday, there's something more genuine about the smaller blogs. They have an honest voice and write for themselves, not for others. These blogs are my favorites, which brings me to the Favorite Blogger of the Month, featuring Amanda from a From a Heart Overflowing!

She's a southern gal with style and lots of inspiration. Whether you're looking for a good quote, outfit ideas, or moving in somewhere new, Amanda's got something for each of you. Each post is always honest and relatable, especially as a young 20 something myself. Hope you enjoy Amanda's interview! When and why did you decide to start blogging?

I started blogging in January of 2012. I had thought about starting a more official blog to share my personal style after blogging more casually on Tumblr for 3 years and as a New Year goal, I decided to take the leap.

Describe your personal style.

I would say my personal style varies a lot daily. I mostly just wear things that I like. I don’t like to restrict myself to a certain style because you never know what new things there are out there that could look amazing on you. But if I had to choose a few words to describe it, I would say: classic, cozy, put together.

Where do you find inspiration for new blog posts?

Definitely from other bloggers. I’ll see a blog post from one of my favorite bloggers (like Melissa) and suddenly a variation of that post comes to mind for me to try out. I also find inspiration for posts in my every day life. Most of my content is usually just simply talking about things going on in my own life or funny, awkward things that happen to me on the daily.

How would you describe your blog in 5 words?

Personal, awkward, joyful, inspiration-filled, happy.

What’s your favorite part about blogging?

The people for sure. I have met more people that I can relate to over blogging than I have in my entire life in person.

What’s your least favorite part about blogging?

This is a tough one but I would say the comparisons. It’s sometimes very difficult to not get down on yourself when reading about other’s adventures or new clothes and not compare it to your situation.

What are some of your favorite traditions in the fall season?

Well, living in Arizona, fall is sort of non-existent in some ways but in the last couple of years, my mister and I have started having a pumpkin carving night just the two of us and I absolutely love it. Growing up in Puerto Rico, we never did that sort of stuff so I didn’t carve a pumpkin until I was in my senior year of high school. So it’s definitely a fun, new tradition for us.

What’s one piece of advice for new and aspiring bloggers?

Just do you. It can be hard to stay focused on why you started a blog when you get focused on trying to get followers but if you just focus on expressing yourself, you will be a lot happier with your little space on the internet and readers will be far more attracted to a genuine person than someone who is just blogging to get followers.

Have a splendid weekend, darlings(just finished watching Breakfast at Tiffany's). I've got a busy weekend ahead...including my first serious timed 5K, so wish me luck!!! I'll be sure to share some pics from the race on my Instagram, along with a big bowl of ice cream. Totally treating myself after the race, it's just necessary.
