Addicted

I have one word for ya, wait, one number: 2048. I know, I'm months behind, but I can't stop this madness. It may be the most addicting game I've ever played. I'm surprised I'm even writing this post. The truth is, I've had to take a break multiple times. It's bad, y'all. Still, I highly recommend it. I won't write another post stop until I beat my score, or reach 2048. Let's hope I beat my score sooner than later. Happy Tuesday, fellow gamers ;)

My Birthday Romper

Romper: Thrifted (similar) || Sandals: DSW || Shades: Vans (similar)
Tomorrow is the first day of summer! Feels like summer began weeks ago here in Texas, but I'll admit I love the heat. I especially love the summer clothes and all the fun rompers. I know, I still can't get over this trend. After thrifting last year's favorite romper, I was thrilled when I thrifted this classic little number a couple months ago! I wanted desperately to wear it for my birthday, so I added a bright colored pencil skirt and ta-da, a career outfit.

Being the excellent blogger that I am, I forgot to take outfit photos that day. But since it was my birthday, I let myself off easy. Instead I waited almost two months later to take outfit photos! You know how taking a couple days off running messes with you, taking a couple months off outfit photos RUINS me. Took me a little while to get comfortable in front of the camera again, but my red sunnies make everything better. Here's to taking more outfit photos this summer. Have a wonderful first weekend of the summer!

June Wishlist

Happy hump day lovelies! Just like this week, I can’t believe how quickly June has flown by. Lots of new changes, but change is always good, right? Especially when that includes new phones!! That’s right, this girl is finally the proud owner of an iPhone 5C. After years of wanting to keep my music and phone separate, I gave in. I’ll admit the color choices played an influence in my decision, but I do believe in Pink. Now I just need a case, which brings me to this month’s wishlist!

Sneakers: In my crazy collection of shoes, I still don’t own a pair of closed toed casual shoes. I had a pair of Toms, but it’s definitely time for something new. Taylor Swift designed these and they’re yellow, enough said.

White Shirt: If you read Kendi’s blog, you may have seen her latest “Having a moment post” on the perks of owning a white button down. I love the way they look, but I’ve never realized how versatile they really are. She may have just convinced me to add this essential to my closet!

iPhone Case: I saw someone with this case weeks ago and decided I had to have it(even before I had an iPhone). Surprisingly enough, I was able to find this floral case in my first Google search. And marked down more than 75%! It’s currently in my shopping cart Just bought it. #ftw

Nail Polish: You can never have too many nail polish choices. This color just says SUMMER.

Shades: My perfect cat-eye sunglasses broke. I can’t even explain how difficult it is to find a pair that cover my eyebrows and these were just right. Instead of lamenting, I decided to give these a try. Only a subtle cat-eye, but I love the classic shape!

Triangle Ring: I’ve been eyeing these shaped rings for a couple months now and I couldn’t pass up the price. It’s just how I like my jewelry, dainty and simple.

What’s on your wishlist this month? Anyone else want a white shirt after reading Kendi’s post? Tell me I’m not the only one. The options are endless! And those Keds! Where do y’all get your sneakers? Do you choose by color or print? Have a fabulous rest of your week!

The Emergency Outfit

We've all been there, each and everyone of us. You're out of the house and get a message to (insert fun activity) with friends (insert short amount of time), except you're not dressed for the occasion. Personally, I've found myself in too many of these situations and end up skipping out or trying really hard to convince myself "I'm not overdressed." I know going home is always an option, but it's soooo far and just takes even longer - no fun.
I've decided the only way to end this madness is to carry the perfect emergency outfit at all times - preferably in the car, who wants to carry extra bags? Not me. I use "perfect" lightly in that it's the most basic outfit of all time, but still comfortable and cute. My go to pieces are strappy sandals, a striped tee and a standard pair of jeans/shorts - not my absolute favorite, but a simple pair that work for most occasions. Accessories aren't a must, but if you're like me, you keep an extra pair of shades in the car! And who doesn't carry around chapstick or your favorite lip color? Just think about it, you'll be ready in no time!

What are your go to pieces? Do you carry an emergency outfit in your car? Who has multiple outfits for different occasions? Can't believe it's taken me this long to do it, but trust me, it's completely worth it. Happy Tuesday, fellow dreamers!

Words of Wisdom Wednesday #17

In case you didn't notice, TFIOS rocked the box office this weekend. Can't say I'm surprised, considering the book was a masterpiece! Staying true to the book, the movie contained my favorite moments and quotes, word for word. Isn't it something when you watch your favorite quotes on the big screen? It just takes you back. I may have read the book months ago, but I couldn't forget my favorite quotes. So in honor of words of wisdom wednesday, I'm sharing my favorites with all of you.

What's your favorite TFIOS quote? Did you love the movie almost as much as the book? If you haven't seen the movie yet, cancel your plans for tonight and go see it!  If you haven't read the book, shame on you, I told you to get on that months ago. Just kidding, but not really. Either way, make sure you have a tissue box at hand. It's not even an option, you just need one. Now excuse me while I go finish crying.

10 Things to Know If We're Going to be BFFS

via
Cheers to Friday, y'all. Seems like this week dragged on a little longer than usual, and so today I'm keeping it short and simple with a fun post from my sweet blogger friend Toyosi. Since my About Me page only says so much, read on to learn more. Plus, if we're going to be BFF's aka Partners in Crime, you should know what you're in for, right?

1. I'm always late. If it's not work related, give me ten five extra minutes. It's a problem. Can't help it, sorry.

2. As if I don't write about my hair enough, I also talk way too much about hair, hair products, hair styles, etc. #BlameItOnTheFrizz

3. I frequently quote lines from "When Harry Met Sally". #favoritemovieever

3.5 I like to talk in hashtags.

4. Texting is great, but if it requires more than a couple messages, call me. I love phone calls.

5. When my favorite band/singer comes to town, I'm going - no questions asked. Please come with me!

6. I like to be alone.

7. I know I can't sing, but sing with me anyway.

8. Ordering food takes me a looooooong time - did I mention I'm picky?

9. If I read something on the internet, it's true. I believe everything I read.

10. Why of course I'll braid your hair! I need all the practice I can get.

If you follow my blog, I like you already. Now let's be BFFs and take yoga together! Speaking of yoga, this girl is taking a class from the one and only Tara Stiles. That's right, the yoga queen of Youtube! I'm so excited for the weekend. Also, it's the premiere of TFIOS!!! I can't wait to fall in love with the story all over again, oh and Augustus of course. Have a fabulous weekend!

Summer '14

View from Mount Bonnell
Today marks the beginning of a new series! In the past, I've shared goals and bucket lists on the blog, but I've decided to make it a little more formal with a seasonal series. Instead of staying specific to a season or coming up with a set number, I'm going to go with the flow and see where I end up by fall! I know summer is still weeks away, but I thought I'd get a head start - especially since Spring is long gone here in Texas.

100 Miles Challenge: I did this last year, except for the fact I tried to run too many miles in too short of a time frame at the end. This year I'm trying to fit 100 miles in 2 months. I started June 1st exactly, so I'd say I'm off to a good start!

Share a Summer Snack recipe on the blog: I'm still not the most patient when it comes to cooking, but summer snacks are quick and easy, right? Quick and easy is my motto for any recipe I'm sharing - so be on the look out.

Stick to my brand new budget: I finally created a somewhat realistic budget - or so I think. I've started making a checklist for each payday to make sure bills are paid, but also to save for snocones, gas, and oh yeah, food. #priorities Keeping my fingers crossed I can stick to it!

Spend more time outside: It might be hot outside, but it's the perfect time for a dip in the pool. As long as the sun is shining, I don't mind the heat. It's no fun working all day when the weather is perfect, so I definitely want to take advantage of my weekends and head out for a hike or two.

Get a facial: I'm all about good skincare. After reading hundreds of beauty blogs and articles, I've learned to follow a simple regimen - cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Still, I've always wanted to try a facial. I've heard it's pricey, but maybe I'll find a Groupon deal?

That's it folks. I'm keeping my sumer goals simple with a short list. Some are difficult and some are just a matter of making things happen, but either way I'm excited! It's my favorite season after all. Any goals for you this summer? Anyone have tips on building a budget or where to get a facial? Happy Tuesday, lovelies!

1st Blogiversary

Happy belated Birthday to The Blushing Dreamer! I know it's a day late, but here's to turning 366 days old. Just a year ago, I was writing down ideas, deciding on color schemes, learning the basics of html and how to use Blogger. It's incredible how much something can grow in a couple of months, especially in a year. In my first entry, I mentioned how I hoped my blog would make you smile, laugh or act as a source of inspiration. From your support and feedback in the past year, I know I've completed my challenge - so thank YOU. I might not have the prettiest layout or a thousand followers, but I love how far this blog has come.

With a new year ahead, I have some new ideas up my sleeve. Summer is just beginning has begun and I have so many outfit ideas to try! It's also the perfect time to try out new DIY projects - especially with Independence day only a month away. I might be trying a new series too, so bear with me.

I know the last few months have been somewhat of a blur, but honestly, I haven't found any real inspiration. After starting my new job, my schedule changed and I found less time for blogging. I had hoped that after my 10K, things would be different, but then I tried Yoga and the nights got even longer. Don't get me wrong, I love Yoga - so much that I signed up to take classes for the next 3 months! But I don't want to make excuses either. The truth is I'd rather sleep than stay up late trying to come up with a new post idea, much less staying up to write nonsense. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, but I do miss writing more regularly. Finding a balance isn't easy, but it's something I'd like to work towards. A new challenge accepted, perhaps? You'll just have to wait and see!

Thank you for reading and thank you for following. Can't wait to see my blog continue to grow in the next year. If year two is anything like year one, I'm excited for the future. Tomorrow will be the first of a new series and I'm so excited to share it with y'all - so be on the look out! Happy Monday fellow dreamers!
