Breaking the Rules

Romper: Marshall's (Similar) || Purse: Old Navy (Similar) || Belt: Thrifted (Similar)
Booties: Anthropologie || Bracelet: BCBG || Earrings: Forever 21 (Similar)
I'm soooo excited to finally share my favorite romper of the summer. Now where did I find this beauty, you ask? The one and only Marshall's! Serious #fabfound right here. Being the frugal shopper that I am, I have a difficult time paying full price for anything - the item must be less than $15 or some crazy percentage off. Sadly, at $16.99 this romper broke both of my rules. I didn't have store credit or an extra gift card, but it was only $2 off, so I bought it anyway. Best buy of the summer! I've worn it numerous times already and it’s still my favorite piece in my closet. Did I mention it goes perfectly with the booties of my dreams? Talk about a summer staple.

What's your favorite summer staple? Do you have your own rules when it comes to shopping? I'd love to hear them. Happy hump day, y'all!

Lovely Links Friday

Little Texas in my teacup :)
I know I mentioned an outfit post, but guess who decided to get sick in the middle of vacation?  That's right, this girl.  And in the middle of summer, no less.  No fun, y'all, no fun.  Between taking naps and blowing my nose all week, I spent the rest of my time catching up with the world wide web.  It's been a while, so why not share my favorite links on this lovely friday?

Rule of Three: If you haven't heard of the Unfancy capsule wardrobe yet, it's a must read.  Personally, I'm not sure if it's something I could stick to, but for now, I'm loving this "rule of three".  It's a good starting point for aspiring minimalists like myself.

Shoes: They might not be this summer's hottest trend, but I was in dire need.  When you feel like you're running barefoot, something's not right.  My feet were fitted, my running observed, and now I await my dream pair of shoes!

President Candidates: Politics and real people aside, I thought this was hilarious.  I'm a little sad Luke Skywalker beat out Yoda, but then again, who doesn't love a witty article?

Mary Poppins Quits: Again, politics aside - how cute is this video?  First she can act, then she sings, and now she can pull of Mary Poppins?  So jealous.  And whether you agree with it or not, you must admit the song was brilliant.

Chains: No shame, I totally fangirled over the Jonas Brothers in high school.  And I'll be the first to admit I was distraught a bit sad when they broke up, but I digress.  If you liked Nick(the talented one) at all, give this a listen - it's different, but surprisingly good.

Pasta: Doesn't it look delicious?  Asparagus, yum; lemon flavor, yum; pasta, yes please.  Minimalist Baker is genius. I can't get enough of these easy ingredient recipes.  Have I mentioned I'm an aspiring minimalist?

Lastly, a quick adios to Indiana Adams from Adored Austin, aka the brains behind Texas Style Council.  If any of you Austinites are free this evening, make sure to RSVP and say bye to one of Austin's blogger legends.  Luckily, I'm feelings tons better, my voice is back, and I can make it!  So excited to hangout with blogger friends and perhaps, find some new blogging inspiration. Happy Friday, lovelies.

July Wishlist

When I think of July, vacation usually comes to mind.  Growing up, my family and I would visit South Padre and relax on the beach all week.  Now that I'm older and have a big girl job, it doesn't work quite the same anymore.  Although times have changed, I can still enjoy the perks of vacation days at work.  Days for hanging with friends, a day at the lake, dancing till the early morn, etc.

After working in the real world for a year, I'm excited to announce I'm taking my first vacation starting tomorrow!  One of my best friends is visiting Austin for the first time!  I can't wait to show her my favorite spots, restaurants, shops, and lastly - snocones.  Even though it's a staycation, I'm still going to need the essentials to get me through.  A swimsuit, hat, everyday dress, and the rest of this month's wish list:

Hat: I love fedoras, but this look is just darling.  It's classy and still casual enough for the everyday look.  I picked up a similar hat earlier this month and can't put it down.  Cheers to cute summer hats!

Necklace: Right when I thought I found the perfect necklace, it breaks.  Thank you, F21.  Alas, I'm in search for the perfect statement necklace, again.  It turns a boring outfit into the perfect outfit, need I say more.

Lipstain: Every once in a while, Birchbox sends me something I absolutely love. This month I received the prettiest Cynthia Rowley lip stain in Valentine.  As if the name isn't cute enough, the color is gorgeous!

LBD: I found it, y'all. The perfect LBD. It might not be your usual silhouette, but it's exactly what I've been looking for.  Have I mentioned my love of the drop waist trend?

Sandals: I've had a serious weakness for heeled sandals this summer. Blame it on the work environment, but they're so cute.  The gladiator sandals with straps all the way to the knees might be a bit much for me, but these are so subtle and I can't get over the neutral color.

Swimsuit: Saving the best for last, I love love love this swim suit.  I just bought a cute one from Target, but I've secretly wanted this print all summer long.  Why does it have to be sold out? Why???

What's on your wish list this month?  Anyone going on vacation or having a staycation?  I'll most likely be MIA for the rest of the weekend, but be on the look out for a new outfit post.  I'll be sharing my favorite look of the summer!

I'm finally back from an unexpected hiatus.  Like life, it happens!  Things get busy and I start to feel unorganized, especially when I my daily planner/editorial calendar ends.  Unlike most calendar/planners, mine decided to end in June.  And as it turns out, I used my planner more than I thought.  In the mean time, I've attempted sticky notes, but I just lose them anyway.  Adios new post ideas.  Who knew searching for a planner could be so difficult?  I've searched high and low, but haven't found the "one" yet.

I've heard wonderful things about the moleskin journals, but I'm so accustomed to the normal planner format that I'd rather not.  Is a clean and creative print too much to ask for?  My handwriting can get messy sometimes, so less is more in my book.  Just add a plastic cover front and back, and we're good to go.  I carry my planner everywhere.  The plastic cover saves the planner from everything, including spills or ripped sheets.  You might remember my Poketo planner from last year.  It was perfect, except it was part of a limited Target collection.  What's a gal supposed to do now?

Instead of searching the regular stores, I decided now is the perfect time to support an Etsy artisan!  Instead of settling with the normal back to school planners, I want something different.  Turns out, Etsy has quite the selection - including plastic covers!  Seriously can't express how happy that little detail makes me.  I haven't ordered one yet, but if my recent shopping adventures are any indication of this decision making process - I'm gonna need a second or third opinion.  So help me out ladies, which one's your favorite?

P.S. I'm still addicted to 2048. I may or may not have been distracted while playing during the writing of this post.
